Arleen Sandoz is Teva's Site General Manager in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. She talks to us about her inspirations and female role models, and reveals the barriers she had to overcome throughout her career.

I always had big dreams and big ideas, and that is something I recommend to every woman who is beginning her career. With passion, dedication and teamwork, everything is possible. You just need the right attitude.

I began my career in Supply Chain and have been working in the Fajardo site for over three decades. Teva acquired the site in 2016 and for the past two years, I have been the Site General Manager.

One of my strengths is that I know how to complete tasks in the most efficient way. I set myself goals and have a vision, and then I get things done.

I've seen a big shift over the years with regard to women in leadership positions. Teva provides many opportunities for women to develop and grow, which is really important. Overall, I'm very happy with the way things are moving forward, but we need to continue educating our society about this subject, because there are so many talented and diverse people out there.

Fulfilling responsibilities as a leader at work and a mother at home was the biggest barrier I had to overcome. My children grew up while I was progressing in my career, and I had to create the right balance in order to show the world that I can handle everything in the best way possible.

My mom came from humble beginnings and she's my role model and inspiration. She really built a better future for her family. My parents had a restaurant and from them I learned how to keep looking for chances to improve, which is something I try to implement at my site every day.
