Boglárka Szabóné Szikszai and her team are responsible for developing new and existing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients in Teva's site in Debrecen, Hungary. With an open-mind, self-assurance and dedication to hard work, she continues to take on new and exciting challenges.

I graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2003 with a degree in bioengineering and immediately joined Teva. I've been with the company ever since. What I love most is that I keep finding new and personally satisfying opportunities and have the chance to take on increasingly challenging roles in my field of research and development.

Today I am the Manager of Biotechnology R&D at our Debrecen, Hungary site. I lead a team of 19 colleagues and we are responsible for new and existing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) that are produced by fermentation.

I was always interested in science. It's always challenging and it keeps changing. It gives you opportunities to explore technologies and think about the future. Testing new methods is very rewarding and makes my job interesting.

From the very first day, I had the chance to get involved in many activities at Teva. I love our inclusive environment and supportive colleagues. It's no wonder that my biggest successes have been through team efforts. I always look for collaborative opportunities.

My supervisors taught me a lot about management and leadership. Today, my advice to other women who want to grow in the business is that it is important to clarify your priorities and focus on your goals, but it's even more vital to be open to new things.

I have two teenage daughters, ages 15 and 13, and I teach them to be self-assured. I want them to be resilient, to work hard, and to never give up. As women, we need to trust ourselves and our capabilities, and then we can be at our best and succeed.
