Overview
Teva's Innovative Ventures unit focuses on early identification and evaluation of potential proprietary compounds, primarily in the above niche specialty areas. Teva invests in companies with promising products and technologies. At the drug discovery phase, Teva leverages, among other things, its relationships with the Israeli academic community and start-up companies, to gain early access to potential projects. In 2008, Teva initiated a more active global sourcing process for selected indications within the therapeutic areas of neurology, autoimmune diseases and oncology.

At Teva, we built our successful reputation on the development, production and marketing of generic and proprietary branded pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients.

With the launch of Teva Partners, we're placing new emphasis on bringing specialty products to market. Through partnerships, we offer smaller companies and academic institutions access to resources that include:
  • Proven Success - We're building on our successes in developing proprietary therapies such as the blockbuster COPAXONE® and AZILECT® - the rights to both of which were acquired from renowned institutions.
  • Genuine Commitment - We are highly selective about the projects that pass our approval process.
    Projects that are selected for partnering receive our concentrated effort.
  • Reliance on External Research & Partnering - We strive to become a partner of choice as Teva Innovative business depends primarily on in-licensing and partnering to obtain products for development.

Partnership Possibilities
To ensure potential partners access to our best decision-making and development processes, we provide separate tracks for pre-clinical stage products and clinical stage products.

Teva is looking for products in its current therapeutic areas (Neurology, Auto-immune and Oncology)
as well as certain additional specialty therapeutic areas (those targeted to medical specialists) which:
  • Answer a high unmet clinical need;
  • Are new chemical/biological entities;
  • Have proof of efficacy in relevant animal models
  • Have potential advantages over existing therapeutics; and
  • Have strong Intellectual Property.

Product Submission Process
  • Our acceptance process begins with an initial screening of non-confidential information, followed by a full product package review. If the review reaches the business negotiation stage, we are very flexible concerning the appropriate deal structure to achieve a win-win situation between Teva and our partner

Successful validation testing and business negotiations will be followed by full pre-clinical/clinical development and standard FDA and EMEA regulatory testing - all conducted with the goal of getting into first-in-man as quickly as possible.
