On November 2, in London, Teva’s Eva Kopecna, Head of Global OTC Regulatory Affairs, was recognized by the Organization for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs (TOPRA). Eva was awarded the esteemed Contribution award. This honor recognizes regulatory professionals who have made a significant and consistent contribution to a regulatory team, project, to regulatory science or to the profession.

In recognizing Eva, the judges noted, “As well as her work supporting others, Eva completed her TOPRA MSc in 2008 with distinction, and was awarded the prize for the best student in her year. She helped introduce regulatory affairs into the curriculum at the University of Brno, and has received Czech government approval for the training of over 150 students. She has also just completed her PhD focusing on OTC medicines.”

TOPRA is the leading global organization for Regulatory Affairs professionals and for those who have an interest in Regulatory Affairs in the healthcare sector. Its mission is to enable and promote excellence across the healthcare regulatory profession.

The TOPRA Awards for Excellence in Regulatory Affairs were established in 2010 to recognize the achievement of individuals, teams and organizations, both within TOPRA and in the wider regulatory affairs community globally. The awards are presented in eight categories, recognizing excellence in every aspect of regulatory affairs, plus the lifetime Achievement Award. This honor distinguishes an individual who through his or her life's endeavors has demonstrated a significant and lasting contribution to regulatory affairs.

Teva's Michael Banks, Senior Vice President Regulatory Affairs, is on the prestigious panel of judges, among other respected figures in the global regulatory industry. This year he judged the Lifetime Achievement and Support award categories.

Teva also sponsored the Horizon award. As Michael explains "Teva is committed to developing future talent. This is expressed in a number of ways through the company values. We also have history of building significant relationships within local communities, as well as designing Teva Graduate schemes with a view to identifying, developing and retaining future Regulatory Affairs and other professional talent. It is for these reasons that Teva is thrilled to be sponsoring the TOPRA Horizon Award. This award recognizes outstanding ability in individuals with fewer than 5 years’ experience in the regulatory profession." Michael presented the Horizon award to Emily De Lay from Pfizer, UK.

A big congratulations to Eva and job well done Michael!
