In the Community – Teva USA

As part of our mission to be the most indispensable medicines company for the world, we touch the lives of millions of patients every day, billions of patients every year, by providing access to high-quality healthcare through affordable and quality medications. As a leading global pharmaceutical company and the largest generic company in the world, we recognize our responsibility to improve the lives of patients and expand access to healthcare, especially for those who need it the most.

Focused Support in Key Areas

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Teva includes corporate charitable donations, product donations and volunteerism. Over the past year, we conducted a comprehensive review and redesign of our charitable activities, striving to better align our CSR strategy with our corporate mission and business objectives. By narrowing our focus and being more strategic in our partnerships, we believe we can maximize our philanthropic impact and better serve patients in need. In 2014, we strive to help patients, particularly the most at risk, by focusing our support in the following key areas:

  • Volunteers in Medicine Clinics that provide medical treatment at no cost to economically disadvantaged individuals. In 2014, Teva is the National Corporate Partner of Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), the only national nonprofit dedicated to helping communities develop free health care clinics for the uninsured and providing resources and support to existing VIM Clinics. Teva will also continue to support VIM Clinics in areas where we have a business presence. In 2012, VIM clinics across the United States treated over 100,000 patients and engaged nearly 12,000 medical and non-medical volunteers. Learn more about our National Corporate Partnership with VIM below.

  • Community organizations that provide direct service to patients and their caregivers and are based in geographic areas where we have a significant business presence. Employees will have specific opportunities to volunteer with the selected organizations through our Community Partnership Program.

  • Disease and therapeutically aligned organizations that provide support to patients and their caregivers and are focused in areas where we have commercial activity. Employees will also have opportunities to volunteer with these organizations in their local area.

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) to educate young people and encourage them to pursue careers in the healthcare space to meet the increasing demand for trained healthcare professionals.

  • Teva also continues to provide product at no cost to patients in need through our Patient Assistance Programs and International Bulk Donation Program.

We are committed to making a difference in patients’ lives by providing access to high quality, accessible healthcare, and we accomplish this not only through our business model of developing, manufacturing and marketing high quality generic and specialty medicines, but also through our impactful CSR programs. We look forward to working with you to improve the lives of patients around the world.

2014 National Partnership with Volunteers in Medicine

We are proud to announce our 2014 National Partnership with Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) to make health care services more readily available to uninsured patients around the country. Volunteers in Medicine is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping communities throughout the U.S. provide free primary health care clinics for uninsured individuals and families of all ages. Currently, there are 96 Volunteers in Medicine clinics in 29 states, providing free health care services to thousands of people without access to care. These clinics provide general primary care, medications and patient education programs, with some offering specialized services such as pediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology and counseling.

As the effects of the Affordable Care Act become known in local communities, VIM clinics remain committed to serving those without access to health care. VIM patients have nowhere else to go for healthcare services: they earn too much to qualify for government assistance; work in low wage jobs that do not offer health insurance; or earn too little to purchase health insurance on their own. Teva is dedicated to helping VIM provide assistance to these patients, and making a difference in communities where we live and work.

Teva’s partnership will assist and support VIM in numerous ways. It will strengthen VIM’s ability to open additional clinics across the US, increase support services to VIM Alliance clinics, and promote awareness of VIM. In addition, Teva will provide monetary gifts to individual VIM clinics located in areas where Teva has a business presence. Most importantly, the partnership’s focus is at the heart of Teva, enabling thousands of patients in need to obtain high quality medical and dental care.

We look forward to working together with Volunteers in Medicine in 2014, providing access to quality healthcare to uninsured patients around the country.
