Teva USA maintains an extensive range of community involvement programs based on strategic partnerships with community organizations as well as supporting individual events. Teva USA partners with 17 NGO's and supports over 100 more organizations with quarterly donations and program assistance. Below are some highlights of this activity during 2010/2011.

Philadelphia Eagles Partnership

In 2009, Teva signed a five year community involvement partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles. As part of this commitment, Teva started a program which offers partnership opportunities to local organizations. Non-profit organizations were asked to submit proposals and the following organizations were selected:
 
Philabundance
As the region’s largest hunger relief organization, Philabundance seeks to provide food to residents in the Delaware Valley and beyond. Teva funded two delivery trucks for Philabundance’s FreshForAll program for 2010 and 2011 which routes trucks throughout the Delaware Valley, providing low-income individuals with the opportunity to come and “shop” for fresh fruits and vegetables.
 
Corporate Beet Down
A Philabundance program, this is a year-long contest for local corporations which compete for points through volunteering at the food sorting warehouse, making greeting cards to be included in government-subsidized food boxes for low- income elderly, supporting food and money drives and participating in other Philabundance sponsored activities throughout the year.
To date, Teva has collected over 1,600 pounds of food and donated over $20,000.Teva remains in the top four scoring corporations in the Corporate Beet Down contest.
 

Students Run Philly Style (SRPS)
The goal of this organization is to foster healthy lifestyles, academic achievement and the safety of Philadelphia youths by having them train for marathons with mentors and fellow colleagues. Teva sponsored a team of students and mentors for the 2011 season to provide sneakers, travel expenses, entry into the marathon(s) and more.
 
The Miracle League of Northampton Township
This organization works to ensure that all children and adults, regardless of their disabilities, have an opportunity to participate in sports. Teva donated $50,000 to assist in the construction of a multi-purpose field to assist in meeting their mission.
 
Twilight Wish Foundation (TWF)
TWF grants wishes to economically-disadvantaged seniors. In 2010, Teva teamed up with TWF and high school students to raise money for this program to grant simple wishes to veteran seniors on Veteran’s Day.

City Year Partnership

In 2009, Teva began a partnership with City Year Greater Philadelphia, an Ameri-Corps program that provides 17-24 year-old Corps Members with the means to go out to schools in the community and help students succeed, build relationships,break down social barriers and stay in school.Teva worked with the City Year team, sponsoring two schools.

Annual “Pay It Forward” Day of Giving

In the spring of 2011, Teva’s Kansas City Neuroscience group hosted its “Pay It Forward” Day of Giving for the second year. This unique philanthropic event was originally designed to celebrate Teva's long-standing commitment to giving back to the community by engaging its Kansas City-based employees in a day of hands-on volunteerism involving several charitable organizations. During this event, employees were divided into small teams and given the opportunity to partner with local non-profit organizations. Provided with limited “seed money” and a few basic instructions, each team had a finite amount of time to creatively determine how to “pay it forward” with meaningful service. This year, the event generated nearly $100,000 in just three hours.

Partnership with National MS Society and Parkinson’s Foundation

Teva’s focus in the area of neurology has led to strong ties with both the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as well as the Parkinson’s Foundation, supporting efforts to find a cure for these devastating neurological diseases. Teva provides financial support and volunteers at annual events - Teva’s sponsored walk, run and bike teams are among the largest in the Kansas City area. Teva’s support extends throughout the US and Canada with similar fundraising and participation in numerous cities.

Cause for Change

This program began after a suggestion by a Teva USA employee to provide change boxes at the end of the cafeteria lines so that employees could donate their spare change to charity after purchasing lunch. Each quarter, Teva matches the amount collected. To date,Teva and employees have provided over $4,000 to many charity organizations.

Teva USA Emergency support Response and Disaster

Teva USA takes the initiative to support individuals affected by natural disasters. During 2010-2011, Teva employees supported several causes with donations which were then matched by Teva:


  • 2010 Haiti Earthquake:over $100,000 raised by employees

  • 2010 Chile Earthquake:over $2000 raised by employees

  • 2010 USA Tennessee floods:over $5,000 raised by employees

  • 2011 Japan Earthquake: over $65,000 raised by employees

In total, employees and Teva together generated over $350,000 to support emergency response and disaster relief in this period. Monies are provided to the American Red Cross for allocation where it is most needed. Teva has established a microsite on the American Red Cross website for employees to donate to emergency causes as they happen.
